Secret Communicator Panel

By David Zikovitz

The Secret Communicator Panel consists of a pair of wi-fi connected devices hidden inside enclosures resembling classic, hardcover books. Opening a book reveals a control panel of tactile buttons, switches, knobs, colourful lights and gauges, as well as a small guide book. By selecting different combinations of inputs and pressing the send button, users can send the same configuration to the hidden panel in the other book, no matter where it is in the world. Designed for children ages 8-11, the device allows two friends to explore the coding of messages and transfer of information over a distance, while feeling a sense of excitement, agency, and intelligence in creating their own secret, hidden form of communication.
