“Fracing” is digital game that incorporates the intuitive learning of fractions and rates as part of the game mechanics. The two player game has two main components: 1) to co-create a unique race course using fraction tiles and 2) to program sprites (each player’s chosen car) using blocks of code that represent those same fractions in distance.

The overall goal of the game is for students to develop number sense around fractions, and to develop meaningful mental models of fraction representation. To do this the game design attempts to push students to build their own meaning and relationships around the representation of fractions through the construction of the fraction-based race course and code building of the car sprites, which will allow for a personal connection with the content (Wilensky, 1991).
